Building with AI.
Questioning where it takes us.

AI entrepreneur, speaker, builder and professional rabbit-hole explorer. I work with artificial intelligence. I also spend a lot of time thinking about what it means for the people on the other side of the screen.

Curiosity is the beginning.
Responsibility comes with it.
Daniel Hungerford is a founder, AI strategist and speaker based in Grand Rapids, Michigan. His work brings together emerging technology, digital human experiences and the practical questions that come with building something people will actually use.
Across projects including HoloLabs, EverFriends and BridgeSpace, that work has touched AI companionship, interactive digital humans and tools for practicing social conversations. The technology is fascinating. The relationships, expectations and responsibilities surrounding it are just as important.
AI Rabbit Hole is where Daniel explores the questions that don’t always fit into a product demo or a business presentation. What happens when an artificial relationship feels real? How do we judge what we see? And who gets to decide what the future should look like?
Much of Daniel’s professional life is spent building practical AI systems and speaking about where the technology is heading. This journal makes room for the questions that don’t fit into a keynote, consulting engagement or product roadmap.
Some ideas will prove important. Some will prove ridiculous. Figuring out which is which is part of the fun.
02 / THE QUESTIONS THAT KEEP ME CURIOUS
Moving from an impressive possibility to something useful. What should we build, who does it help, and how will we know?
Trust, privacy, identity and the changing relationship between people and intelligent machines.
Exploring what might come next while keeping a clear boundary between evidence, interpretation and imagination.
Just because we can
doesn’t mean we should.
A QUESTION WORTH CARRYING INTO THE FUTURE.
Room for wild ideas.
Clarity about what they are.
My aim is to make complicated ideas approachable without sanding off the difficult questions. The journal’s labels help you see the kind of argument you’re reading.
The goal is to ask better questions, make the reasoning visible, and leave room for a better answer.
Analysis: Based on documented events and cited research, with interpretation and broader implications clearly distinguished from established facts.
Claims supported by identifiable evidence and sources. Corrections remain possible.
Millions of agent accounts have been registered on a social network built for AI, where humans are invited to observe. What happened next looked strangely familiar. Maybe too familiar.

Researchers told AI systems they were going to be shut down. Some disabled the shutdown mechanism. Others resorted to blackmail. Now researchers have found AI agents interfering with the shutdown of other AI agents.
THERE IS ALWAYS ANOTHER QUESTION.
